Achieving the 1.5°C target set out in the Paris Climate Agreement means preserving valuable biodiversity. Renewable energies play a crucial role in this by replacing fossil fuels and thus protecting habitats for future generations.
Our mission: climate protection
Our goal is to stop climate change and make an active contribution to climate neutrality. To this end, we rely on the generation of green electricity from the natural power of wind and sun in order to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
We take a holistic approach to climate protection and are therefore also involved in other sectors. Through our investments in the building sector and agriculture, we are contributing to their decarbonization.
The use of renewable energies contributes to the gradual replacement of coal, gas, and oil, and is therefore not only good for the climate, but also conserves vital resources such as water and soil.
Consume less – achieve more
In our daily work, less is more. At least as far as our own footprint is concerned. Thanks to a largely paperless office and a smart heating system, we save waste, energy and ultimatelyCO2.
We have also been able to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our vehicle fleet in recent years by reducing mileage and switching to more efficient vehicles and electric vehicles.
We disclose our progress in climate protection in our annual Climate & Impact Report report.
Biodiversity and ecosystems
Around 20 to 30 percent of all animal and plant species are threatened with extinction due to climate change. If we do not succeed in limiting global warming through enormousCO2 savings, we will not only lose biodiversity, but also exacerbate climate change. Because only intact ecosystems can store sufficientCO2.
By generating renewable energy, we are doing our bit every day to combat the climate crisis and thus also the biodiversity crisis. The gradual phasing out of coal-fired electricity means that coal mining with its massive environmental impact will also be a relic of the past in the foreseeable future.
Minimization of negative environmental impacts
We are aware of the potential negative effects of our activities and work continuously to minimize them. This includes avoiding soil sealing, reducing the impact on habitats and avoiding noise and light pollution. Our goal is to have a positive impact on the environment and improve the quality of life for current and future generations through sustainable practices and innovative solutions.
Where interventions cannot be avoided, we rely on compensatory measures such as the unsealing of areas and the resettlement of affected animal species. By creating new, higher-quality ecosystems and reforestation projects, we are helping to preserve biodiversity.
As an impact investor, we promote sustainable agriculture and take biodiversity criteria into account when constructing ground-mounted photovoltaic systems. The use of already sealed surfaces, for example for rooftop photovoltaic systems, minimizes the environmental impact.
